Canada is introducing a new dental benefit named the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), aimed at improving access to
dental care for low-income families across the country.
The CDCP is a federal program that aims to alleviate financial
barriers to oral health care for Canadians without dental coverage.
Eligible participants, with an adjusted household income of less than
$90,000 annually, will receive a dental care subsidy under the CDCP,
ensuring access to essential dental services for those who need it
Understanding Costs Under the CDCP
Cost-Sharing for CDCP Treatments
All treatments under the CDCP will not be free. Depending on
your household income, you might need to pay a portion of the
treatment costs. The federal government will cover part of the
fees, and you will be responsible for co-payments.
Co-Payment Breakdown
You will have to pay these amounts directly to your dentist if
your adjusted family net income is between $70,000 and $89,999,
and you agree to dental care that the CDCP does not cover.

Basic and major procedures are covered under the CDCP for all

Preauthorization and Eligible Procedures
Preauthorization requires prior approval based on a dentist’s
recommendation and must be government-approved. Until it begins,
eligible patients can receive care for specific procedures,
subject to certain frequency limits.
